HCI

Alongside my studies at the college I also started doing this course in HCI by Georgia Tech from edX

The learning objectives for this particular course are as follows:

  1. The overall goals of human-computer interaction.

  2. The relationship between HCI, user experience design, human factors engineering, and psychology.

  3. The relevance of HCI to domains like healthcare, education, and cybersecurity.

  4. The trends in HCI technology including virtual reality, augmented reality, and robotics.

  5. The emerging ideas in HCI research, such as context-sensitive computing, gesture-based interaction, and social computing.

  6. The three main schools of thought in HCI: the processor, predictor, and participant views.

  7. The feedback cycle in user interaction, including gulfs of execution and evaluation.

  8. The notion of directness in interaction, and the role of direct manipulation.

  9. The strengths and limitations of the human user, including sensation and memory.

  10. The role of design principles and heuristics in user interface design.

  11. The most important principles for design, including discoverability, affordances, perceptibility, and error tolerance.
