UI Design & Development Intern @ Acalvio Technologies
This is my first internship at Acalvio Technologies, from April 2022 to June 2022, which was part of my 4th semester in User Interface and Interaction Engineering.
Acalvio, a cybersecurity company based in Santa Clara, California, provides real-time autonomous deception solutions for its clients. Its clients are all enterprise level.
This was my first ever practical experience in the industry.
I was working as a designer in the UI design and development team, where I was the first to major in UIIE.
The product I was working on was ShadowPlex; a cybersecurity tool Acalvio has created. I had my first experience where I had to make decisions as a designer.
My responsibilities were to run usability tests and form actionable steps that the developers would take to improve the product’s usability; for this, I followed the ten usability heuristics.
As part of my role in the design and development team for the twelve weeks at Acalvio:
Collaborated with UI Dev team to implement design principles for ShadowPlex.
Conceptualized design ideas that bring consistency, simplicity, and user-friendliness to ShadowPlex.
Established and implemented design guidelines, best practices, and standards.
Conducted user research and testing.
Proposed design-related changes in ShadowPlex to the team.
Resolved design-related issues in ShadowPlex.
Prepared and presented drafts to internal team members.
Coding in CSS and HTML.
Explored the system, ran a heuristic evaluation, and gave an initial report.
Created Color Themes/System For ShadowPlex.
Documented UI Usability Improvements.
Built the foundation for The Design System using Figma as the platform.
Gave Color recommendations for the executive report on ShadowPlex.
